Theatre Collingwood is known for its summer theatre programming, appealing primarily to mature audiences. In an effort to appeal to a broader spectrum, and especially younger adults, RENT will be performed this holiday season. You will likely recognize this musical’s popular song “Seasons of Love”. RENT has a mature theme, filled with amazing music and a story of love and acceptance.
With music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson, this rock musical is loosely based on La bohème, an opera by Giacomo Puccini. It depicts the story of several impoverished young artists who are struggling to create a life in the East Village of New York City and overcome the struggles of of HIV/AIDS. RENT is about relationships. It is funny, enlightening, and may even make you cry.
